Just wondering if their has been any new rumors of a major league baseball team coming to the Charlotte area? How about moving the Tampa Bay Devil Rays? They never get anyone to their games.

I seriously doubt it unless the Charlotte Knights go from minor to major league.
they are going to be building them a new stadium in uptown third ward

I haven't heard anything since last year when the Marlins were rumored to be considering Charlotte.

There doesn't appear to be any interest in Charlotte to get a MLB team. Charlotte already has NFL and NBA teams (as well as NASCAR). The market's not big enough to support another major league team.

All local the efforts have been directed towards getting land uptown for the Charlotte Knights AAA team to move from Fort Mill, SC, where few people go to games. Unlike the Fort Mill stadium (which was designed to be expandible to major leage size) the new stadium in uptown Charlotte will be minor league from the start.

There have been rumors that various teams have expressed interest in moving to Charlotte (Marlins and Expos) but those didn't come from Charlotte and Charlotte isn't trying to recruit MLB (except for one nut who's trying to sabotage the new Knights stadium uptown).

Have you seen the 30k empty seats (which are actually 'sold') during Panthers games even when they are doing well? Charlotte also goes to bed at 9:30pm during the week. Not enought to support MLB YET. 10 years, maybe.

Charlotte has imports of people who like baseball. So I think there could be good turn out for baseball. Better than football. I know people who go to baseball games for something to do. So more people will go to baseball over football. I hope its National League baseball when it comes. That why they should build that AAA staidum MLB size or expandable.

People like football here too but they only go when their former home team plays here.
