Hello,

What would be a good place to live that's still close to Charlotte but not a crazy commute distance from Bessemer City? It's just my husband and I, no kids. We'd like to rent first then buy. Budget is $1200 or less. Just looking for ideas... thanks!

Gastonia, Cramerton or Belmont.

I would advise starting your search in Gaston County. It is close enough to commute to work and a short drive to Charlotte. Belmont, Cramerton, Lowell, McAdenville, Mount Holly, and Ranlo would be in eastern Gaston County and closer to Chalotte.

Are any of these have more perks than others in terms of things to do, etc?

Are you familiar with the United States National Whitewater Center?

There aren't a lot of possibilities in Bessemer City, so I know pretty much where he would be working.

You'd probably be interested in Crowder's Mountain State Park & the Gateway Trail in Kings Mountain. You'd probably also be interested in Moss Lake/aka Kings Mountain reservoir. Most of the shopping west of Charlotte is in Gastonia.
