LOL - I good a good laugh when I read your post. We all need to laugh more and that tickled me.

Anyway, we decided on Rock Hill. I didn't realize RH is only a 45 min drive from my friend's home. I am not familiar with Rock Hill. Is there quaint, charming area? I would like to avoid the strip malls if possible.

For quaint and charming in Rock Hill, look no further than downtown RH, surrounding the intersection of Main and Caldwell Streets. Easy to access via Dave Lyle Boulevard, Exit 79 on I-77. Great food, shopping, galleries. Here are a few places off the top of my head… Overhead Station gift shop and stationery store, Provisions by Sandy Creek Local Market, the Gettys Art Center, Amelie’s French Bakery/Café (definitely save room for dessert from here), The Flipside Restaurant, Kinch’s (for Southern fried chicken), Main Street Bottle Shop. Fountain Park is great for a stroll. And just up Oakland towards Winthrop University is Legal Remedy brewery and brewpub in a re-furbished old car dealership building. Enjoy, and I hope you will return again and again!

We had a great time in Rock Hill. We had lunch at Flipside. We sat outside at one of the tables in their private little alley. It was cool out there and very enjoyable. The food was excellent as was the service. We never made it to Amelie for dessert - we were way too full! Next time. There was a Halloween 5K and festival going on which made the atmosphere festive. The town is a great little gem. There is a nice art scene with galleries and a children's museum. We stopped at Provisions by Sandy Creek Local Market - they have a large variety of spices, herbs and other goodies. We found a great formal shop named Song's. I wish I had known about this shop when my daughter was shopping for a prom dress. The variety and number of dresses was unbelievable. So this is now the spot where my friend and I will meet when we get together. Thanks for the recommendation.
