I've heard mixed reviews about teaching in Charlotte. Basically, do your research. Teaching in city district can be hard because there's just so many schools to choose from and the bulk of the hiring is done through central office.
ReDir gives great info on individual schools - test scores, student population, suspensions, etc.
Personally, I chose to teach in Union County, just south of Charlotte, and I love it. It, of course, has its problems as well (mainly the insane overcrowding as Charlotte expands), but the people are friendly and the upper-level staff I've met so far have been top-notch.
My advice is to only apply directly to schools in Charlotte-Mecklenburg that you're willing to teach at, and look at the surrounding counties: Union, Gaston, Cabarrus, and maybe Stanly. Most are an easy commute from the city depending on exact locations.
