Curious..

I have a neighbor that has installed a no parking sign next to the sidewalk facing his house.

I'm wondering if you can legally install something like that or if the city would request he take it down.

Straight from the code:

Sec. 14-96. - Display of unauthorized signs, signals, or markings.

(a) It shall be unlawful to place, maintain, or display upon or in view of any street or highway any unauthorized sign, signal, marking or device which purports to be or is an imitation of or resembles an official traffic control device or railroad sign or signal, which attempts to direct the movement of traffic, or which hides from view or interferes with the effectiveness of any traffic device or any railroad sign or signal.

(b) It shall be unlawful to place or maintain any traffic sign or signal bearing thereon any commercial advertising. This shall not be deemed to prohibit the erection upon private property adjacent to highways of signs giving useful directional information of a type that cannot be mistaken for official signs.

(c) Every such prohibited sign, signal, or marking is hereby declared to be a public nuisance, and the city may remove the sign, signal, or marking or cause it to be removed without notice.

(Code 1985, 14-220)

In other words, if the sign is not properly stickered on the backside and validated as required, it's bogus.
