Btw, I've heard many people with migraine problems end up at the Chiropracter instead of the neurologist because it may very well have something to do with your back/neck being adjusted and things of that nature..

HeadacheDoc is on a distinguished road
While I see many patients that have been to the chiropractor (which is another issue that I don't want to delve into here), most times the true nature of the headache is not related to neck and back.

Chiropractors can help a great deal with tension type headaches, but I'm not sure about migraines. Are you sure yours are migraines? If your headaches are not controlled well with medication I would definitely suggest seeing a chiropractor. My husband is a chiropractor at South Charlotte Chiropractic and knows a lot more about this than I do so if you have any questions DM me and I will get you his phone number or email address. I just know based on personal experience that it really does work! I'm a pharmacist so I know the medications do work, but I always suggest looking at all of your options.

Therre is an herbal remedy for migraines that has been proven effective with articles in the Lancet, the British jopurnal of medicine. Feverfew taken daily will reduce severity and frequency of migraines. I went from 3-4 Imetrex injections per week to one maybe 7 yrs ago. My internist said it was harmless and he agreed the articles were valid.

There was another round of studies to determine the single effective ingredient but those studies were flawed.

You can get the liquid at almost any grocery. It's bitter and goes best in a little water, soda, or OJ. Not milk! I keep it in the refrigeraotr for that rare instance where I feel one coming on - it stops it very fast. You can use it up to 5 times a day I think, but I never needed more than 3 doses.

Won't hurt to try it while you wait for the appt.

I get headaches when the weather changes, so I get headaches 4-5 times a week. At this point I am ready to try anything, so I am going to buy some Feverfew and give it a shot. Thanks SouthernBelle.

Although a lot of weather-related headaches are sinus type, some are actually migraines. The electrical disturbance associated with an approaching thunderstorm can cause a disturbance in the brain ignaling and cause some vessals to narrow. That's why moist heat frequently helps a migraine, as it relaxes the blood vessals' walls.

And by fellowship-trained, that means I am currently finishing one year just in headache medicine.

My Dr. told me to start taking B-2 100 mg (1) and Magnesium Citrate (2) each day. I need to start up my routine again and see if I get fewer head aches. I acutally want to go to a specialist, just haven't done it yet.

I can tell when I am going to get them. I wake up and my eyes feel heavy like I didn't sleep very well. But I also have a teeth grinding probalem. So it is on one side and my eye, jaw, ear, neck muscle and shoulder muscle's hurt, the muscles are literally hard as rock. Sometimes even the muscles under my should blades too. The darn things last for 3 days! It's awful, I don't wish them upon anyone.

My migraines would wake me up from a sound sleep - left side of my temple pounding, feelng dizzy and nauseous, and seeing little yellow light flashes. I am a sound sleeper and only wake up when a dog barks to go out but these headaches would do it. I also got them when awake - usually nauseous and a little temple-pounding. We are expecting a storm tonight and I am heading for my feverfew!
