The real question is why haven't the 20 ADM come out.

They're blaming the NC DPI. Watched the video from last night and I think they were up 640(?) students from last year, but didn't discuss school by school. Of course they know them, what harm could come from sharing? Who cares if it gets adjusted +/- 10 kids later on.

Nothing would surprise me, but if you move kids, where do you put them? And the $233 million dollar CCEP does nothing to address growth especially in the middle schools. Where are the plans for the D school cluster? They already own the land, the utilities are in, the plans are drawn. The money was already invested.

On a side note, is anyone following this new information about Dr. Ellis? I saw a new business incorporaed listing in the UC Weekly and thought is was strange. Didn't really give it much thought. I guess some other folks did. She has had a business name EDUCATRX in Deleware since April of 2014. Mike Webb (deputy superintendent), Tony Burrus (chief technology officer UCPS) and a guy named Jason Mooneyham are listed as the executive committee. Jason Mooneyham also happens to be the VP of sales for Lenovo, the company who UCPS buys all their laptops from. Checked my kids chrome books. Sure enough the Lenovo label is there. I don't know who all knew about this, or who approved it but it reeks of ethical violations and conflict of interest. I sure hope it's investigated and resolved quickly. I never liked or trusted her or Webb. She has a long history of being disrespectful to her staff and she is as dishonest as they come. Mike Webb is no better. He had several questionable relationships when he was the principal at Sun Valley High School. How those two rose to the top I will never understand.

There's supposed to be a decision as to whether New Town Elementary will remain capped. No word on that yet, though.

I can't imagine Union County would go through that again given the mayhem that occurred not even two years ago, but then again I couldn't have imagined it would have been handled the way that it was either. Has anyone heard that this may be a possibility in the near future (next year or two), or is this just idle gossip?
Based on these numbers no. Year 3+ depends on the cluster and growth. ESs and MSs look fine. HSs are fine with 3 exceptions (Monroe HS, PRHS and SVHS) and those are borderline.

I could see some capping and/or split ES/MS but nothing major.

There are too many open seats for CCEP, Stony will get you some trailers or let you split ES/MS before that happens.

McKibben should be interesting...

It's all coming together now. UCPS is going to close Marvin Elem and split the kids between Rea and Sandy Ridge. That's still under the cap of both schools. The Village of Marvin is going to buy the school for a town hall, library, sheriff office, Rec center and park. UCPS will use the proceeds to buy more laptops.

Based on the official numbers per McKibben...

2015 Enrollment Forecast

2014 Enrollment Forecast

McKibben-2015 UCPS Population and Enrollment Forecast

Current districting looks safe in the near term, with the exceptions I noted above

I also think CCEP is dead in it's current form unless the "equitable" approach is used...
