Exactly. And didn't we pretty much decide a group of locals probably paid this guy off to write that article???

No, we didn't decide that.

I came online and confessed to it.

My attempt to control future growth . . .

Well, I can definitely agree with it being miserable as far as commuting goes! I'm working in the South Park area and live in Dallas. The drive is killing me b/c the freakin' idiots around here don't understand that the sun will always be rising or setting going our direction. Not to mention, the left lane is for fast drivers....get out of the way! It shouldn't take 25 - 30 minutes to get from South Park to 85 either. If I could find a job in Gaston Co. that pays what I make here, I'd do it in a heart beat! The hour drive each way is killing me!

Part of what needs to happen in Charlotte is that more people need to start trying to live on the side of town they work on. Or in the case of uptown, within 7 or 8 miles of it. If more people did this the congestion on the roads wouldn't be nearly so bad.

Oh, I know sometimes you are already living somewhere and THEN get a job, but in those situations maybe people could utilize the bus system more often to not become one more car on the crowded roads.

And some days, I used to drive the 12 miles from my house in NJ, across the GW Bridge and to downtown, in just under 1 hour 20 minutes. Then had to come home again.
Now I go 8 miles in 15 minutes with sitting in traffic.

That is a long and torturous commute. Just be glad my DH is not commuting your direction. God bless him, he is my honeybear but he gets into the far left lane and squats. I have begged him to at least set it on cruise control at a nice clip. But no. Luckily, he telecommutes.

And he is from St. Louis!

Glad you said that about him being from St. Louis. There are aggressive, bad, annoying drivers in every city in every state - it happens. Seriously, go on just about any states board and you'll see people complaining about the same thing like it's unique to that area only - when it's really not.

Add road construction to it . . . and that is true anywhere, as well.
