I have a month+ temp living in Charlotte area. From the list below, can I get advise on which one should I choose for a family with small kids relocating from outside US.
District Flats, 1449 S Church St, Charlotte, NC 28203
Whitehall Parc, 8024 Whitehall Executive Center, Charlotte, NC 28273
Mosaic South End, 1312 SouthCollege St, Charlotte, NC 20283
Post @ Phillips Place, 4835 Cameron Valley Pkwy, Charlotte, NC 28210
None of these are in really bad areas - but the Whitehall Center is the least good area plus it's quite remote and you can't really walk anywhere.
The others have many walkable amenities in the area.
Post is in a very upscale shopping center with a Whole Foods market nearby. Also South Park Mall is very close.
The others are in the South End area of Charlotte which is populated primarily by young adults. There won't be many other children in any of these complexes, but all are safe I think. Will your children be in school? If yes, then Post@ Phillips Place definitely has the best schools by far.
I would cross off the Whitehall location and they would be fine with any of the other three. Phillips Place is less urban than the two Southend locations. If I had young kids I would probably lean toward Phillips Place unless the family is already an "urban" family from a large city. If it was just young adults, I would say the southend locations in a heartbeat.
Whitehall is not close to the others on proximately to things to do.
I would have no problem with children in the South End. There is a walking path along the light rail system and the downtown (known here as "uptown") area is close by - either walking or by light rail train. Kids love to take the train and downtown one can visit the fun Discovery Place science museum, public Library and some nice parks.
In fact the South Park area where the Post is located is more focused on shopping, though there is a nearby public library and a nice bookstore.

Thank you in advance for your help...
Your job is in northern Lincoln County. Good luck with the drive.

@southbound, this is a temp place for a month or so before we find and move to a rental home.
Please look at the places that were suggested before for the permanent location. We're approaching winter, when you may be dealing with fog in the morning.

Did I say otherwise? I can't & don't advise people on one location over another in Charlotte, Union County, or Concord. However, people doing so should be aware that he is not commuting to Uptown. He's commuting to the last Lincoln County exit of 321 before Catawba County. Since we're going into the holidays, they may be in that location into January. That's just a reality of real estate.
When you've heard traffic reports concerning Star Town Rd in the morning & thought huh?, that's the next exit north of where he's going on 321. If one of those locations will make his commute better & still give him what he wants that would be a good thing, don't you think?
He's been given several suggestions of where to locate in the past. I'm just saying that he should look at them for a permanent location. If he chooses to stay in Charlotte I won't say a word.
