Default Middle Eastern grocery in Charlotte?
Does anyone know where I can find a Middle Eastern grocery in Charlotte? I'm looking specifically for maftoul (sp?), but Israeli couscous will work if need be. I've been mail-ordering it, but now that I live in a real city I was hoping to just find it at a store. Thanks!!

There are two Middle Eastern grocery stores on North Sharon-Amity Rd. One is Halal International 3120 North Sharon Amity Road, Charlotte, NC28205-6539and the other (whose name I don't know) is right across the street. Both are halal and carry a good line of M.E. products.

Have you tried Kosher delis. You probably know that Moslems and Jews have many of the same restrictions and shop in the same places. Also, I have found that the Indian/Pakastani grocery store on South Boulevard (near Scalybark Rd. I believe) carries a good selection of Middle Eastern products.

Try Gleiberman's off Providence Road just south of Olde Providence. I believe the road is called International Dr. It's a restaurant and a kosher grocery. Can't say much for the restaurant (strictly glatt kosher) but the grocery has some itesm you won't find anywhere else in town.

Are you referring to Bombay Bazaar? I love that place, but I don't know about them carrying what the OP needs.
