Me and my husband got a great offer. A bigger, beautiful lot, 4-5 acres with own creek between Linville and Linville Falls. I am European, my husband American, we live in California, empty nester now and interested to expand our investments. Maybe bed and breakfast, chalets and so on.

We do not know the area, i am trying to find as many as possible information. Especially regarding black bears and rattles? Are they afraid of people? What are the chances to encounter bears or snakes? Will they come close to the house? is it easy to get a gun there? In California months of waiting right now, because San Bernardino.

How are the winters, the summers? I suppose no humidity, like close to the beach.

What is your impression about the area? Do you love it, hate it?

Please help me, make the decision to fly there and take a look at the lot. We are already in contact with an agent.

Thank you

Beautiful area. Close to a few metros. Charlotte being the biggest one close enough. The area draws people from all over the east though. blue ridge parkway cuts right through. as for your questions

Yes there are bears. They aren't over populated. they are hunted. They will most likely be afraid of people. They are black bears not grizzlies, and they rarely attack. Seriously, a black bear attack is extremely rare. It honestly shouldn't be a worry.

Guns. Very easy to get. you are in the south, not leberal gun hating California. You can have all the guns you want.

Winters run the gamet. one day it could be mild and in the 50's, the next day a front blows through, and it's in the teens and snowing. That's a typical east coast winter, whether you're in the mountains or not.

Summers There's going to be humidity in the mountains, again it goes with being on the east coast. way less than someplace like charlotte, and honsetly that's what makes the mountains a draw for a lot of folks here, but for someone use to dry air it may feel terrible.

It's a beautiful area. Worth checking out. I love north carolina. You're close to a lot of stuff. Good luck with your decision.
