Some of the worst areas in charlotte are less than 10 minutes away. It only makes sense that there would be crime here.

Unfortunately, it is becoming an Eastland. These days it isn't just the "low income" housing. There are some really nice looking areas on north Beatty's Ford Road and other places where crime is taking it's toll. The poverty theory is being found to be a not so valid theory.

Again it was never a great area where the mall was. Knowing the area I knew this when they built it. My wife worked there right after it was built in 06, and 07. Crime was always an issue. I'm not here to dispute it, but people come here make these threads, and act like it's all of a sudden going down hill. No it's always been bad. Sunset rd has always been one of the worst areas since I been here. I have no doubt that it's starting to creep up beatties ford road. What areas of beatties ford are you referring to exactly?

Oh do tell. What is the real problem?

I remember before moving here in 08 there were questions about the mall being built there. The area on Beatty's Ford Road north of Mount Holly Huntersville Road near the new schools has some nice areas where crime would seem unlikely, but unfortunately, it has had many issues.

Why don't you enlighten us. Sounds like you may know the key.

I really would be more interested in CMPD's response to the crime and what they are going to do about it. Car break-ins is one thing but shootings are another.

You're the one who said a particular theory didn't hold water. It's on you to explain.

For a mall with so much crime at/surrounding it, it stays successful and busy.
