I haven't heard anything for sure, but considering the development around UNCC Center City I'd say there are a lot of developers in line to get their hands on that prime real estate. The landowner (I want to say its Levine, don't quote me on that though) probably will be very selective with whoever they sell it to, considering its proximity to the main cluster of skyscrapers, as well as it being adjacent to TWC arena whatever goes up there really needs to turn heads.

I imagine the people living in Courtside won't be happy to see their skyline view disappear.

Definitely, but you can't expect a bunch of empty land to remain undeveloped for long in uptown. The owners of these surface lots have held out for a long time, but it's getting to the point where the city and developers are not going to wait any longer, the time for them to sell is now. I would give it at most 2 years before we see a project announcement, but we don't hear news until the project has been announced, I can almost guarantee there are companies rendering plans as we speak.
