Default Possibly moving to NC in a month

Hi! I've found a few cute homes in my price range online and am wondering if anyone can give me some info on these neighborhoods: Devongate in 28269, Rocky Ridge in 28215, Turtle Rock in 28215, and Citiside in 28215. I'm looking for a safe family neighborhood because I have two toddlers. My husband and I are in our early/mid 20s and don't want to end up in an elderly neighborhood either. We like sidewalks, parks and newer (1999 to present) houses. Also, my husband will be driving to and from the Charlotte/Douglas airport every 2-3days. Our price range is up to $1000 for a 3 bed/2 bath house with a garage in case anyone has any suggestions. My husband will be in Charlotte next week for an interview but will only have half a day to look around and I'd like him to see at least one house on my list so, which neighborhood should he go to and does anyone have any opinions of T.R. Lawing and BDF Realty? Thanks!

So you are looking at rental homes, right? I would personally recommend avoiding Devongate.

Rocky Ridge is a small little neigborhood in a safe spot, but may feel a little too isolated for you as it is more in the country (which I would like actually!). It is right near I485 so your husband could take that to the airport and be there in about 40-45 minutes depending on time of day.

Why would you avoid Devongate?

The area is not good, unstable, too many foreclosures, too much crime, just not a good area of town.

That's too bad because that was my favorite house...oh well. I'll bet there are a lot more rentals in Charlotte than there are online. I'll just have my husband pick up a newspaper when he gets there.

As you find others online and want to know about the area, just post here so we can tell you what we know (if anything). Also, be sure to go online at Craigslist to find others to look at.

How is Henderson Oaks neighborhood? It's by Harris Blvd and Hwy 115. I've found a few houses in that area.

Becky, I'm sorry, I just would not live that close to Gibbon Rd - look further north on the other side of Harris Blvd for safer areas.

I don't get it, the houses look really nice...don't bad neighborhoods usually look bad? All 3 houses are brand new (1-3 years old) and the yards don't have dead grass. Maybe we have a different idea of what nice is...my last neighborhood in NM was a DUMP. My neighbors lived in a double wide trailer and had old cars, mattresses and a stove out in their yard...yeah, distgusting. Needless to say I stayed in my house with the blinds down so I didn't have to see my neighborhood. I'm beginning to think that Charlotte is Pleasantville!
