Yes!!

Because those apartments are ridiculously overpriced (assuming you're referring to the ones officially in Birkdale Village). There are other complexes in the immediate area that should be a good bit cheaper.

Birkdale is clearly going downhill. Lock your doors and hide your daughters. It's looking like the next Northlake.

Seriously....

About the Birkdale Village apartments, I hear they are expensive with other good options nearby for less $$.

Personally this wouldn't keep me from renting or living in the area but be aware of incidents and what is going on. They did have a jewlery store (Fink's I believe) robbed recently where someone used a vehicle to break/bust open the door to get inside.

Birkdale Village is a nice place. Because you can't afford the rent doesn't make it bad. Many people find value living in close proximity to shopping and entertainment.

Only in a place like city forum could Birkdale Village be characterized as having a crime issue. I love it.

Also funny how we learn where people live over time as they get defensive of their areas. Proud Father, how long have you lived in Birkdale? Longer than southbound has lived in the Gastonia/Kings Mountain/Belmont area?

It's like clockwork...somebody says "I want low crime, good schools, nice area, good people. Well, I've got just the place for you! (insert wherever you live)! It's great!

We all love our own decisions. Great stuff.

Pretty sure the only people saying Birkdale Village is bad are being sarcastic. But if a self-inflicted gunshot wound happened down the street from Northlake Mall people would be yelling to run for the hills.

There are other apartments that are still walking distance to Birkdale Village outside of the place itself.

Yeah, Fairways at Birkdale are really nice apartments that are really cheap. It fluctuates. I got a 2 bedroom for around $850. Easy to walk to Birkdale Village that has a greenway and sidewalks everywhere to get around Huntersville & Cornelius (And the new beach area that opens up in Ramsey Creek park)

Lake Norman is one of the safest areas in NC. I think Davidson is ranked #1 and Cornelius in the top 5 also. Something like that.

Life in general is safer everywhere than what the news would have you believe. As long as you use common sense and keep healthy relationships, there really is an extremely low risk for being a victim of some random shooting or crime.

Driving is the most dangerous aspect of most of our daily lives.

I think Birkdale is great. I'm really glad the golf course finally foreclosed and found someone willing to put money into getting it back in shape.

There is no reason whatsoever to drag me into this. There's nothing wrong with Birkdale. I had not posted in this thread.

I don't live anywhere near Birkdale Village. Go back to defending busing to your substandard schools and post cliff notes for those of us who don't read past four sentences of your drivel.
