The developer pulled out of that project after the Village of Marvin asked to downsize it significantly.

There are several other buildings planned for the property, with square-footage ranging from 16,000 to a 100,000-square-foot building for a grocery store.

Harris Teeter has opened one store and is opening another store in North Carolina that are 78,000 square feet. It is possible a 100,000-square-foot Harris Teeter could be possible in the near future if Kroger wants to try out a Harris Teeter Marketplace store.

While it is true that the proposed development on Rea & Tom Short that was going to be annexed into Marvin fell through, the latest news is that a HT, along with outparcels will still be developed there by the same developer... this time through unincorporated Union County.

This facebook page explains it all.

I've heard several dates, so it is hard to say. Latest I heard was some time in 2017. The HT construction relied on whether the recent wine/beer vote passed, which it did. The Facebook page does a pretty good job at posting the latest.

Now that a Harris Teeter Marketplace has been announced for New Bern at 100,000 square feet, will this similar HT project near Charlotte eventually come to fruition? Looks like plans have already been in the works, just the zoning issues and other bureaucratic red tape to be resolved. It certainly seems as if Kroger has plans for large supercenter style stores, with Harris Teeter Marketplace announced at the coast and Kroger Marketplace now open in Columbia, SC.

Kroger just did a 85K market place on Farrow Rd in Columbia. HT is doing 85k in Redstone Phase 2 which I am sure will look like the new Kroger in Columbia.

The Harris Teeter Marketplace planned for New Bern has not been officially announced yet. It should be obvious to say Harris Teeter will be utilizing Kroger's Marketplace hypermarket concept for new stores.
