You have to head north/nortwest up to the mountains. I just posted this link on the western Carolina thread, but here it is for you

Jonas Ridge Snow Tubing, Jonas Ridge, NC; Sugar Mountain, Beech Mountain, Hawksnest, Banner Elk, North Carolina, NC (broken link)

Jonas Ridge Snow Tubing Park, Morganton - IgoUgo Reviews

Better call ahead to be sure they have made some snow, as the temps have been mild the last week.

Actually Sunny, I believe that new one I just posted about would be closer than any others north of Blowing Rock.

Default DS called me back

He said everyone goes to one of the ski resorts to tube . . . no place to just get on a hill and slide - that he and his buds know about, anyway.

Default Experienced tubers here

We've been to almost all of them. Hawksnest gets my vote for the best hill, longest runs and most efficient and safest operation. Some of the places are just scary, with little or no supervision and no regard for safety. We like Hawksnest, but get something to eat in Boone or Blowing Rock, or take a lunch. The food at Hawksnest is awful and expensive

That's funny. When I first read this post, I thought the O/P was asking about tubing, as in getting into an inner tube and floating down a river. I was thinking "why? Wouldn't that be rather cold?".

I do guess he meant snow tubing.

Default Tube Maggie Valley

Another option - our middle schoolers recently went with a group to Cataloochee near Maggie Valley. I see on their website that they also have tubing nearby.

Tube World Maggie Valley North Carolina Snow Tubing

Just saw this note:

Tube World located in Maggie Valley, across from Ghost Town, four miles from the ski area will reopen on Thursday, February 14 at 4pm. Tube World’s special holiday hours this weekend will be 10am-10pm on Friday February 15 through Sunday, February 17 and 10am until 6pm on Monday, February 18.

Tubing will alway be better in the NORTHERN NC mountains. It is always colder there and they have deeper snow bases.

Try Sugar Mountain, Beech Mountain or Hawksnest.

Always best to go tubing & skiing just after fresh snow.

HAVE FUN!
