I drove by the sign on Albemarle Rd. just off 485 yesterday that said "Future Site of Presbyterian Hospital" and was wondering if anybody's heard anything recently about if/when they're supposed to start construction?
It looked like there was a couple brief mentions of it on here when the news first broke, but that was about it. I looked at some of the old newspaper articles, and the gist of what I found out was: plans first announced in 2008, but put on hold until 2010/2011 due to the economy and/or "changing the design." The last thing I saw was from March 2011 where they did announce that they planned on starting construction in 2011...guess they better get crackin' then!
Anybody else heard anything differently since then?
Nice! I did remember reading later that it had been pushed back to 2018, although I didn't realize the emergency room had still been supposed to open in 2013. But at least they're pushing something up instead of back!
Looks like construction has finally started...well construction trucks are there at least.
And there is a new sign up (of course now called Novant Health Mint Hill) saying that the physician plaza will be open by 2016 and the hospital by 2018.
