I have been lurking here for some time. Now it seems we will be relocating to Charlotte within the year from Pittsburgh.

I am interested in a new (or newer) home since we have always owned very old homes thus far. Also, we would like a ranch style to minimize steps for an elderly mom. Looking at some of the communities there doesn't seem to be many ranches.

I am thinking of the open spaced floor plans, with the MB suite on one side, and the other two or three bedrooms on the other side.

Can anyone offer suggestions of builders or new home communities with these choices? We are thinking in the $300,000 range.

Thanks!
sandy

This is in Huntersville. There are homes out there but it is cheaper to build up than out

It's part of Highland Creek, which is a nice community on the north side of Charlotte with a load of amenities (swimming pools, tennis, basketball, golf course, etc).

Yes that is a nice part of town too! Do you know what side of town you would like to be on?

In Union County, Brandon Oaks, Curry Place, Crismark for starters. You may be able to get into Stone Creek Ranch as well, but not sure if the plans there would work for you.

Not a big ranch place out here, unlike outwest. But what i have found is you can find houses that are two story and have dual masters one on the 2nd floor and one below for the inlaws. I looked at a great house about $325,000, just bit big for my taste, it had 3 bedrooms, including normal master up and a bonus room. Downstairs it had a second Master and even another bedroom/office, plus GR, Kitch, DR and I seem to recall a from room type area, though it was small, maybe a sitting room off the front hall.

Not sure yet, but I will be associated with the new law school which will be built next to Bryant Park area. We would like to keep a short commute, w/i 30 minutes. Looking for new developments, such as the HIghland Creek suggested. Is this near the area I am talking about?

Our home from Brookwood has a Master BR and bath downstairs on one side of the LR, two more BR's and one bath downstairs on the other side of the LR, and an additional fourth BR upstairs with another bath. Ranches are the only way to go!

I've seen similar layouts in Pulte and Ryan homes.
