Default Moving in March!

My girlfriend and I are planning to move to Charlotte in the spring. I used to live in Charleston SC working for an investor (who went out of business due to the housing collapse). I am coming there to interview and look for jobs, but not fully moving until I am employed. Is it hard to find a job in this market? (business degree w/ 2 years financial experience). How long should I plan to be searching? We loved Charlotte when we came to visit... need to live there full time!

Thanks, We lived in Northern Virginia for a while....so we will be happy with the lighter traffic in Charlotte.

Check the homepage for banks, Charlotte's loaded with them. Both Bank of America and Wachovia has plenty of jobs. The market although still plentiful, it will be difficult. Charlotte has plenty of people looking for jobs.

Do not move here without a job the road will be tough. Too many come here expecting to find employment quick--for many it does not pan out that way.

You should easily find a entry-mid level position ($35-$55K per year) at one of the regional banks. The retail or branch "sales" side of the operation is the easiest to find work in as there is some turnover and incentive based pay means you will work a little harder to be compensated but just look at it as an investment in your future. Work hard for 2 years at $40k per year and take on more tasks and you will be moved "up" in almost any organization in the business. 5 years later you could be making $80k per year or more...but you will have to work. The jobs are here...now the question is... are you ready to come and take one?

PS
YOU WILL LOVE THE QUEEN CITY! God's country

I use to live in NW DC.

I think you will be surprised at the traffic in Charlotte. Most people are.

I-77, I-85 & I-485 are parking lots during rush hour in some areas.

So you would not want to live (north) Huntersville and work in (south) in Ballantyne..would take you at least 1 hr.
