A friend of a friend is asking me for advice on their relocation from Pittsburg. They sent me an MLS link and want to know if this is an 'ok area of town'. Well, I'm not personally familiar with this area, but I do know that generally speaking the west side of Charlotte is more sketchy.
Can someone take a look and tell me if my assumption is right? It's the 28208 zip code and a neighborhood off Tuckaseegee Rd. She has a son who is a Senior in HS, so that would put him at West Meck. Again ... I'm questioning if that's a 'good' place. Very questionable.

She needs to live with decent acces to the airport. I've suggested Steel Creek, Belmont, Mt. Holly as some areas to check out.

Not the best area of town. There are worse areas but Tuckaseegee Rd scares me.

GOOD LUCK though!

You can't go wrong with Belmont (Southpoint High School) of Mount Holly (East Gaston High School).

There's decent access to the airport from almost any part of Charlotte. That's not a noce part of town. But I encourage her to look in Charlotte proper to save on commute time/gas. Start with a good high school (Providence, South Meck, Myers Park, etc.) and let that be her guide.

A good website to refer to is home. You can check out crime statistics for areas, this is part of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Dept.

Based on the price of this home that she asked about, I doubt they're in the price range for Myers Park and those areas. That's why I was kind of thinking the other side of town like Belmont & Mt. Holly.

Definitely suggest Gaston County to her - you do not want her to live off of Tuckaseegee or send her child to West Meck.
