The Carmichael Show is a comedy set in Charlotte. It premiers Wednesday August 26 at 9PM on NBC. The show stars comedian Jerrod Carmichael who grew up in Winston-Salem.

And filming has started on the second season of ABC’s Secrets and Lies which is set in Charlotte. Season 2 should air in the spring of 2016 and will be pretty big. The new season will feature film star Michael Ealy whose character will run a Charlotte private equity firm.

It’s bad that so many productions have left North Carolina. But I must say I prefer to have shows with Charlotte settings than all the ones that used to film here, but were set elsewhere.

Fascinating there will be a TV show that is actually set in Charlotte.

The only other one I can think of is the now obscure "Moving On" from the early 1970s and then only partially. (It can be viewed in Charlotte OTA on 14.3, RetroTV)

If you haven't seen the first season of secrets and lies you need to, I watched the first episode thinking it would be so and so, and ended up getting hooked.

Good news for this show. It was renewed for a second season. NBC: 'Carmichael Show' renewed for season 2; 'Mr. Robinson' canceled | EW.com

My daughter's BFF sister was in a scene of Secrets and Lies last year. The sister does modeling and is in various online print for resorts and things. She's even on the Belk website.

I have it on my DVR. Been watching through it on and off. Funny seeing the made up TV stations. Not exactly positive on the CMPD.

They have done a pretty good job however showing various parts of the city. Even the houses look like those in Charlotte. Wonder what neighborhood that is where the main characters live?

The neighborhood was actually in Wilmington.

A VH1 reality show called “Black Ink Crew” maybe set in Charlotte next season. The season finale just ended with the two main characters moving to Charlotte to open up a tattoo shop. I suspect the show will continue and they will film here. This was their third season and it’s one of VH1’s highest rated shows.
