I am looking at the forecast and there is rain expected. What happens if it rains there ? Do they cancel the race ? It will be a nightmare if they delay due to rain.
Bring ponchos, they will attempt to race whatever laps they can get in. Assuming it scattered showers they will dry the track with dryer trucks. They may even have the new dryer trucks that blow compressed air vs the jet dryers (hot air)
Even though it will be crowded when it rains go up in the concourse to stay dry, plenty of TV's around to get updates other than the announcer.
To be straight up, it will be a long day as they will red flag often for each passing shower. Generally, when it doesn't look like rain will let up they will then make an assessment to call off the race but that is after multiple attempts.
Enjoy the moment, from your seat to the concourse when it rains.
I love oval track racing, have been a fan since age 12.
I have raced locally here in the Toronto area from 1980 to 1995.
My point ? I wish that somebody would engineer a electrically powered race car series.
Imagine a QUIET, non polluting race series. with no fuel, and no need for ear protection ?
That would go a long way to satisfying the critics of all types of racing.
Electric motors can develop high horsepower, from a much smaller motor, so less weight. They can be geared to provide instant acceleration, as they produce their maximum output from the instant that the driver mashes the pedal. On board alternators replace the energy used to create speed back to the batteries, and regenerative braking systems produce power back to the batteries when the brakes are applied.
Will it happen, and would you go to see such a series ? No fumes, no noise, and no need for hearing protection ?
I sure hope so. By the way, electric racing go karts are already in use, in the international championship series. They can reach 150 mph on a oval track.

Formula E is your friend. No race in the US of A yet, though, hopefully that changes soon.
