I was in the area for a wedding and decided to go. I had been wanting to go for years. Ticket was $32 + $10 for parking which I thought was expensive but I bit the bullet. The actual experience was pretty terrible. CROWDS. It felt like I was fighting though crowds 95% of the time and looking at stuff 5% of the time. You had some people that would camp out in front of the viewing windows and others that would spend 20 minutes taking videos or pictures with their DSLR. Some of the viewing windows are maybe 5 feet wide so imagine 30 people crowded around a little window. Kids were running wild all over the place. The eating area was lame too - limited seating and sky high prices. A hot dog was about $6, fries $5 and I think drinks were about $4.

My experience there was the same. Too crowded, too many school groups going bananas, pretty much a waste of time and very stressful.

Agreed. Same experience. Expensive and very crowded. Not "wow" worthy IMO regardless.

Glad I'm not the only one that feels that way. I figure the people that like it are the ones who don't mind bullying their way around.

When I went it was great. It wasn't anymore crowded than any other aquarium I've been. Shame you had a negative experience. I go to Atlanta just for the aquarium

Agree with the first three posts. I guess you could try to go a less crowded time but with all the schools/camps and such I'm not sure there is one. Thought Baltimores aquarium was better and even though they got a lot of crowds too they seemed to manage it better.

I thought the Charleston one, being focused more on SC aquatics/regions, was nicely done.
