I have been doing alot of research on the Charlotte-Huntersville or Charlotte-Pineville and also Raleigh-Cary areas. I am comparing... 1. Cost of Living. 2. Apartment Communities. 3. Close proximity to shopping malls, outdoor rec., such as lakes, nature trails, etc.

How costly is it to transfer vehicle registration? What about "personal property tax"?

Any info would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

By the way.... I am relocating from Colorado.

Thank You

Having lived in both areas, everything you mentioned is basically a wash. The only thing I can say I like better in Charlotte (based only on the criteria you mentioned since I think there are more things that make Charlotte more desirable) is the lake situation. Lake Norman has so much more to offer than all the nearby lakes of Raleigh combined. You might do well to search Raleigh/Charlotte threads to get more info. But if you have more specific questions, I'd be happy to answer. Personally speaking, Charlotte tops Raleigh on many fronts, but it depends on what you're looking for.

One more thing--Cary is closer to Huntersville than anything else. I wouldn't even consider Pineville base on your criteria. You may also want to check out Cornelius, Davidson, and Mooresville which join Huntersville in towns running along Lake Norman up I-77. Denver may also be an option on the west side of the lake.
