Default Job Hunting in Charlotte

Hello Everyone-
We're thinking about moving to the Charlotte area from Durham, NC. I'm wondering how the job market is for Administrative/Executive Assistants? Anyone know? I always see stuff posted but I'm wondering how quick it would be to actually land this type of job. I would hope to receive a salary of at least $36,000 annually? Is this possible? Thanks in advance for any advice!!

Anything is possible! The job market is fairly consistant for your field here in Charlotte. I would suggest that you register with a staffing agency if you need quick income until you find your ideal position, which honestly shouldn't take too long if you have enhanced education, decent employment record and an acceptable credit history.

Thanks for the reply! Do you think there is an ideal time for relocating?? Just wondering if the jobs are booming at a certain time during the year. I know I've seen a lot of good rentals on craigslist lately. Summer would be the ideal time because the kiddies will be out of school, but who knows. Guess we'll just have to plan it out.

IMO
Summer is not ideal time to look for employment. You will be competing against recent college grads, others who have or are relocating to this area and waited until theiir kids was out of school, and reduced HR staff due to summer vacations.

Good luck

I am glad to read this. It's encouraging. I live in Raleigh and I am moving to Charlotte in two months. I just filled out an application for an apt., in Charlotte and off I go. I have been living in Raleigh 6 mths and no luck. I can see you wanting to move out of Durham. I took a position that I thought was a perm. job that lasted one mth and cancelled two scheduled interviews in Charlotte. I could have moved with a job and I could pull my hair out too. However, we live and learn. Best of luck in your search. I am also an admin/exec. ass't.
