I'm travelling to Charlotte for one night and I'm on a tight budget. I booked a room at the Red Roof Inn near the airport - convenient because I'm coming from Atlanta - but after reading very scary things about it on this forum, I may need to make alternate arrangements!

I'm considering two Best Westerns - one near Exit 32 north of the airport; or the BW Sterling on Woodlawn Rd.

Any experience with either of these? Thanks for your input!

PS> Charlotte seems to be very busy on Feb. 28 when I need to be there. What's going on?

Of those 2 Best Western's...I would say BW Sterling on Woodlawn.

What rate did you get at the Best Western's?

I would suggest the newly remodeled HOLIDAY INN - EXPRESS in Belmont/Mount Holly (I-85 and Exit #27 and go LEFT for about 1/2 mile and its on your RIGHT) 704-812-2000. They have rooms for about $99/nt and is VERY convenient to Charlotte!

AAA rates of $84.15 (Sterling) and $98.10 (Airport), which seemed pretty good, considering that there's an event in town!

Thanks for the feedback!!

My Husband and I stayed at the BW on Woodlawn back in November and thought it was great. It was very affordable, right next to the lightrail station and restaurants and overall a great experience. Airline employees stay there on layovers alot too. Just make sure to get a room above the 1st floor, it can be kind of noisy throughout the night on the 1 st floor.

This is very useful information - thank you so much! The lightrail station is a bonus I wasn't aware of!!
