Myself and my wife have been in the Charlotte area for about 5 months now, we really like the area and we now would like to make Charlotte at home, my daughter who was living with her mom for the past year will be living with us again within 2 weeks, I am in desperate need of where can I go and look for the best Middle School option for my daughter who has mild autism, she has been in both public and private settings, both times have been in small student to teacher ratios with a teacher assistant each time, I am really worried in being able to find the best school for her here in Charlotte, any suggestions and help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

What public middle school are you zoned for currently? Have you visted them to see what they could do for your daughter? Perhaps people can reassure you, if they know what school district you are actually in.
Thanks for your response, we are living in the home of friend now, and we have not purchased or rented a home yet since we do not know which school would be best for her, if we can narrow it down to a couple of schools based on recommendations then we will move to where we need to...

If no one else has offered a suggestion, I'll just start with one. If you daughter can handle age-appropriate academic work, start with the linked map of the average and above-average middle schools in Charlotte and 5 miles around. Pick one or more that are convenient to your work, and ask to speak to someone about their offerings for students like your daughter. Some examples are Carmel Middle or Alexander Graham Middle.
Contact the local autistic society through human services. They will be able to furnish a list of schools that specialize in autism within their special ed programs. Opportunities are available but start with the county offices for info and then research for convenience, etc. Good luck.
