Hey MetroPCS. Same network, but cheaper.

Coverage is fair. Mostly LTE, but you will hit coverage holes in random places.

T Mobile is just fine most everywhere in NC with LTE coverage. The only places I've had issues has been in the NW NC mountain area, down 74 in spots and that's about it. Otherwise it's been great. I have the $30/month "walmart" pre-paid plan.

T-mobile is pretty great here in Charlotte. LTE is all over and they have some of the fastest data speeds. I've been with them for a while. Very satisfied. Pretty much all the carriers are good here except Sprint. T-Mobile just offers much better value than AT&T and Verizon.

T-Mobile is just fine in Charlotte. You can buy your own unlocked GSM iPhone 6 from Ebay for $350 and pick any reseller like Ting (T-Mobile reseller). With Ting you only pay for what you use on a monthly basis.
