I am considering visiting Charlotte area with my family during the Fall... Please suggest what would be the ideal time during the Fall to visit this area for Fall colors and what would be the best places around that area for enjoying the Fall colors.
I recommend going to the following Freedom Park off East Blvd (Dilworth), Latta Park off Beatties Ford.
For color view with lake views Latta Park, Blythe Landing, Ramsey Creek park (they charge admission on weekends)
Lake Norman State Park.
If you are willing to drive 1.5-2 hours the blue ridge parkway is really worth it, even if only for a day trip. I consider it a benefit of Charlotte. You'll want to go soon as the changes are already happening in the mountains.
Charlotte doesn't have that much more fall color than Myrtle Beach. It does have a little more — more deciduous trees in the Queen City, but not something to drive for.
Now, the mountains!! That's where the color show is really spectacular. The third week of October is usually my pick, but hotels will book up.
If you're coming to Charlotte anyway and just wanted to check out some pretty colors check out Crowders Mountain State Park just 30 min from the city. Crowders Mountain State Park | NC State Parks . I'd say around Halloween is usually a pretty good time.
