A questions asked:

Have you ever voted for a Democrat.

Answer:
I always vote for the person I believe to be best qualified for the position.

Now mind you both of these women are running for a non-partisan position on the ballot.
I go back to my original statement the local GOP are sexist. I cannot find proof either of those women were Democrats, but I did see proof of that for Lee Henage. Those of us who have been around awhile also know Gary Sides was the Chair of the Democratic Party at one time. You can research the archives of our friend Village Scribe to find that. I heard it was Sides himself who called the motion to endorse Rape, Henage and Morreale. Seems being a Democrat is only a problem when you're a woman who stands up to the Old House.

I don't believe Christina Helms was ever a Democrat. Sides was, so was Rape at one time. I don't believe being a member of another party at one time in your life should disqualify you from the support of your current party affiliation. (Neither should being a woman.)

Being a woman that stands up to the old house didn't play well for west side residents, Kim Rogers (BOCC), Tracy Kuehler (BOCC), Sharon Gallagher (BOE) or Laura Minsk (Town of Marvin).

Yes, thank you for that. I edited my mistake.

I heard that about Rape, but wasn't sure. Thanks for the clarification.

Agree with you about those women. I know of a few strong women in the local GOP, but they get shot down as soon as they step out of line.

This garbage is why I refuse to join either party. The lunatics take over the leadership roles and mess it up for everyone else. The moderates in either party are few and far between anymore.

getatag and MagicMirror, thank you for pointing out some of the rot in Union County, of which "rancher" is a prime example.

But aside from the district seat, perhaps "rancher" could explain why the GOP endorsed a party-jumping male Democrat for the at-large seat over an always-Republican female incumbent? Perhaps "rancher" is too invested in that male party-jumper?
