What should hubby do when he gets to town first?

automatically change our car insurance policy and then take the DL test or vice versa?

Very good question. I also need help with this as I will be moving there in a few weeks. I would like to change my insurance the second I get there, I'm tired of paying NJ rates.

You call your insurance company and have them change your policy to a NC policy. Have them fax you or email you the form mentioned above, dl123, if that is right name i dont know (you can have it faxed to dmv while you are waiting in line, and that way it will be ready for you to present it). short answer: insurance first.

Just like nail in da coffin suggested, get the insurance first. I had NC insurance for two months before switching over my license. Here in NC, you must take a written test prior to changing license.
