Does Mecklenberg supply county garbage cans? What about recycling? Do they even recycle? I'll be in Mint Hill area. Thanks
The city of Charlotte, not the county, does supply your garbage can and yes, we do recycle here (that bin will also be supplied by the city if you are in the city limits). In Mint Hill you will have to contract out for your garbage/recycling - unless something has changed since I lived there.

Some HOA's include the garbage and recycling for some areas around Charlotte.
I think people here are getting better about recycling.
This should help you out.

The covenience centers in Fort Mill always have a lot of people there recycling. They have huge dumpsters for cardboard, chipboard, newspapers, books, office paper, etc. It's nice to see them getting a lot of use. Saves money on trash bags too.
Call 311 (free) from your home phone you will get everything you need - a free garbage can and a free recycling bucket, placed in your front yard the next day, plus all information you need.
If you live in unincorporated area, you'll have to hire a private garbage pickup service.
Mecklenburg County operates several recycling centers. The one near Mint Hill is the Hickory Grove Center on Pence Road. You can drop lots of stuff off there, from tires to appliances & more: Hickory Grove Recycling Center (http://www.charmeck.org/Departments/LUESA/Solid+Waste/Recycling+Drop+Off+Centers/hickory.htm - broken link)
