Snow skiing & tubing!
You might wanna call in sick or take the day off Wednesday. The mountains are suppose to get 6-10 inches of snow. Isn't it great that we live so close that we can enjoy either for the day and return home the same night.
Will be working 1/2 day and then we are headed for the hills!
Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow!!!
Will not be many more opportunites this year in the South. 3-4 more weeks maximum!

I've never even seen snow being born and raised in Miami (I know..Pathetic) Anyways, I'm really looking forward to having the opportunity to see it when winter comes around. Can anyone recommend a hotel to stay in the mountains to ski? Is there even a place for that up there? CAN"T WAIT

The best place to stay would be anywhere in Boone, NC. There are several hotels/motels/condos. Several choices of restaurants.
You can also stay slopeside at Beech Mountain or Sugar Mountain but are very limited to where to eat. Boone is only about 20-30 minutes maximum to the slopes.
ENJOY!
There are plenty of paramedics in the area...lol

Best skiing in the area is Snowshoe Mountain, WV--5 hours. Next best in Winterplace, Va.--4 hours. NC slopes are a wash, but Sugar and Beach are your best bet, both are in Boone--2 hours away.

Agree!
Snowshoe is great but a miserable 5hr drive. Very winding & curvy once you get off of I-77 and if it is snowing it even takes longer. Never been skiing at Winterplace. Just visited the resort.
Beech Mountain & Sugar Mountain are very good when they have fresh snow.
Have never been tubing. Going tomorrow. Cheaper than skiing and I think it would be fun. Always wanted to Snow Tube.
Anyone been tubing in NC? Choices are Hawksnest, Beech or Sugar in the area that we are going. Wondering if one is better than the other.
