What is neighborhood(s) called around intersection of Hwy 485 and Hwy 77?

I will be moving Charlotte in next few weeks. My job location will be near the intersection of Hwy 485 and Hwy 77.

I have not yet started search but want to live close to this area.

Many rentals and discussions use neighborhood name but I am not sure what the neighborhoods in this area are called.

Can anyone help?

Thanks!

Do you mean I-485 and I-77? If so, they intersect twice, once north of Charlotte and once south of Charlotte. Which intersection are you referring to? How close to you want to live to that intersection? Do you want to buy or rent? Are schools a consideration?

I77 and 485 intersect twice!

Once in north Mecklenburg, in the southern tip of Huntersville,
and again in south Mecklenburg, almost to Pineville / South Carolina line.

Just found an answer to this question on my own!

This site has interactive Google Map with Charlotte neighborhoods overlaid and clickable links to neighborhood summaries!

[mod]link removed, linking to competitor sites is not ok[/mod]

Hi Grey_Mama and BC1960,

Thanks I didn't notice or think to look if they intersect twice!

I will be working near to the southern intersection of these highways. I guess that is called south Mecklenburg?

I am looking to rent. 1 or 2 bedroom apartment. Am single (no kids).

I am not going to have a car for first few months (or more).

So will be using a combination of public transportation and Uber/taxis to get to and from work.

There are public buses in this area though there will be walking involved for sure.

I would love to be able to cycle but not sure how cycle friendly it is around there (probably not very?).

Thanks!

With no car you need to be very intentional about picking a place to live. Charlotte's bus service is decent, but I wouldn't want to depend on it for all my transportation needs.

If Pineville isn't too far from your job, it's something you might want to consider. Not too far; safe, and reasonable cost of living

We live in Pineville (McCullough) and love it. Good call.

Depending on where the OP's office is, he mentioned not having a car - Ayrsley might be a good option. We lived there before moving to Pineville. There are apartments just on the other side of Tryon from Ayrsley, too.

OP - where, exactly, is your office going to be?

Appreciate that

Ayrsley's a good suggestion as well. As with either place, there's plenty to do within walking distance.
