All you Fairview parents out there getting redistricted to Stallings or Hemby Bridge because the BOE Chair doesn't like her house assigned to Piedmont, y'all live in District 4.
Let's be honest, no one is going to run for these seats...the attack dogs would be out in force.
They did discuss that and would be interesting to hear your take on the answers they got from McK and Cropper. If you get time to watch it back.
Finally watched it. Interesting for sure. McK definitely says need to do something now, but there's a lot of new information they need to digest before a final decision. House decided to phase in classroom size yesterday, so there's one. Does the BOE ask McK to draw one more map with some new assumptions about the construction schedules and new charter locations?
Either way, what struck me about that meeting is why didn't Heintel and Merrell just run the meeting themselves. They answered most of the questions for McK and Cropper themselves. It's almost like they wrote up the plans....

haha have to laugh. That is basically my interpretation as well!
Obviously they are throwing darts at a moving target and willing to accept it to get certain desired results. It is plainly obvious that it is the Heintel / Merrell show - I mean we knew this long ago, but anyone watching that can see it clear as day.
What I want to know is why were the school capacities without HB13 class size limits hidden from the committee and the public?
We might find out how many closets they are claiming as classrooms at some of the older schools if we could compare the secret current capacities to the one's from a year ago?

Come on Bubba, Merrill says they are in 2 columns next to each other - she couldn't possibly be wrong.

Did the CAC have no idea they were working with the proposed smaller HB13 sizes? Cropper and McK were even unsure when trying to answer some of those questions.

They understood it. That's why some of them wanted the capacities without HB13. Everyone thought there would be some delayed implementation if the requirement just didn't fade away altogether. The moves that were made solely to meet HB13 needed to be specified so they could be backed out as they now likely need to be. Falling enrollment will likely eliminate the need for most moves necessitated by HB13 I suspect before it ever gets implemented if it ever does. But that's just one of many bits of information withheld from the CAC.

Does any of this need to be done for 2018/2019? Or should we wait until the new additions are built and we reassess?
