Question for Union County Mommies
Question for Union County Moms....
We are preparing to relocate to the Union County area and my parents may be relocating as well but it may not be as soon as we are. Im wandering what mom and parents had done when moving to the area with no family... What did you do with not having family to trust to watch your children and no babysitter..Were you able to find a trusted babysitter? Just looking for your experiences and suggestions...

It depends on the age of your children. This will be our 6th move in 10 years so I would say we have experience. Our children are 6 and 4 years old. We will be moving to the area (probably Union County) 1st week of August and staying in corporate housing. I will not have any baby-sitters or any other help set up yet. But my children will start school and preschool the 3rd week of August. Until than I will just take it easy with them and explore Charlotte. I have looked at summer camps at the Charlotte Latin School but it ends by end of July. I will try to look for some other summer camps.

August is not a good time to do outdoor camp here, my daughter did this camp:
Young Chefs Academy of Charlotte-Ballantyne, NC
last summer and it was great, if your kids are into cooking!
Just a thought for you to keep them busy and meet some people. They have camp the first 3 weeks of August.

I agree with loves that you should join us over at unioncountymommies.com
The best babysitters will more than likely come from within your neighborhood. When we moved here I asked my neighbors and they immediately pointed me in the direction of the local teenage girls from our neighobrhood that babysat and they are all great. Good luck.

We moved here in Oct. with no family or friends. Most helpful is that our entire neighborhood is transplants w/ no family so everyone depends on each other. We have watched neighbors children they have watched ours. We also have a couple teenage girls in the neighborhood that babysit so that has worked out well. unioncountymommies.com is a wealth of inforamtion. We love it here and are hoping not to have to relocate again. I think it is very important to do research on the communities that you are interested in. Look for swing sets in the backyard, toys outside, ppl outside, kids outside playing, keep driving around the neighborhood. Sometimes I would think we drove around certain neighborhoods so much that ppl were going to think we were staking them and call the poilce. Esp. the neighborhood we bought in- we drove thru it soooo much. Good luck

JoanChris2000:
Thanks! That's a good point. I will also look at some gymnastics camps. But my children really like to cook as well. I have tried to register at the unioncountymommies.com. And was told that I have to live in Union County. Since we are still in California I could not register.

We have mommies there that do not yet live here.....reply to the email they sent you and let them know you're planning on moving this summer and are looking for info before you get here. I had already lived here but my street wasnt' on a map and was denied.....I guess it helps keep out just anyone, but it was frustrating. It's a nice group of people, worth trying again.
