Hotel Recommendation
Hi, we're planning a trip down in March and will be focusing on Union and Mecklenberg counties. Does anyone have a hotel recommendation - doesn't have to be in those counties or in Charlotte, but we'd really love to get a feel for the overall area..... Budget would be up to about $150 per night. Thank you.

I liked staying in the Marriot courtyard in South Park.
Though when I stayed I got a package with airfare, car & hotel.

Stayed at the Renessaince (sp?) Charlotte by the old coliseum over the past weekend on Coliseum Centre. It was very, very nice and close to town as well as the airport. The rooms were suites and they had a very nice breakfast buffet and bar. We had to check out like an hour and a half late the third day and they didn't say a word about it. It was well below your price range, maybe $110 per night.

When I was looking I stayed at the Residence Inn on Rea Road. It's really nice if you are traveling with kids. It is all suites and there is a full breakfast every morning and it is within your price range. It is also a convenient location for checking out Mecklenberg and Union Counties. Good Luck

I usually stay with Marriott. However, Marriott Courtyard University Park on my last stay (Nov.07) smelled of wildew. The hall carpets really stunk. Everything else was ok just that swell in the hallway.

Do you have a favorite motel/hotel. I would suggest checking on that hotel line, because most of the major hotels are in this area. A good central location for choosing would be something close to I-485 in the Indian Trail/Matthews area. This is a good safe area and you will be close to everywhere. If you want a country feel, just check for lodging in Monroe, NC.
