Hello! Are there any good clubs for a couple of Jazz musicians to play in Charlotte? My brother and his wife just moved close to Winston-Salem (not too far from Charlotte to visit and play) from New Orleans and Williamsburg.

They are both seasoned and accomplished jazz musicians. He plays bass, and she is a very popular singer from New Orleans, who has a good following. She and her band are featured guests at Jazz Fest each year. She is definately fun and unique, and quite a crowd pleaser. He has lots of experience in live performances, studio work, and producing. They both can play the whole gamut.

Anyway, they haven't really connected with anyone in NC yet. I would mention their names, but I just decided to post this and haven't asked for permission to post their names.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to who's in the know around here for such things? Are there any open air jazz festivals, any really good clubs, or other venues. Other jazz musicians and/or bands that get together?

There is a House of Jazz in the University area, off of WT Harris Blvd at North Tryon. At least it was there last month, in the old Copeland's building.

There's a place at Ayresly off of Tryon (49). Not sure of the name of it, but it's right near Portofino's and the movie theatre.

Default Thanks for the reply's

Thanks for all the info. I'll get the contact info on these and forward them to my brother.

I hope it might work out where they both could make some contacts here and eventually do a show. I'm sure there are enough folks around here that would love to hear some really rockin/bluesy/jazz!

I had heard about the Americana place in Pineville, that didn't last. I hate that!

I'll check back to this thread to see if there are any more posts. Thanks again.
