Indian Trail
We're trying to narrow down our search areas for our first trip to the area in Feb. I just came across a builder site for an area in Indian Trail that has a development called Bonterra. It supposedly has an equestrian center inside the development.
Is anyone familiar with this at all?

Hi Katodrums,
I was just there yesterday with a client. It's beautiful out there. Some of the lot sizes are smaller, but when you drive into the neighborhood you see...horses...it really is pretty. I'm not sure how it works if you own a horse and want to board it there, but I can find out for you. Best of luck in your search and please let me know if I can help

It is a nice neighborhood, but don't get the impression that it has a rural feel because it has an equestrian center. It's a "front porch community"-houses are very pretty yet very close together and (youguessed it) all with front porches . If that's what you're looking for, it really is a nice development. P&N homes, Brookwood, and Bonterra are the builders there. I don't know if there are any others.

Thanks for the info South.Charlotte and Ms.
Do you have an idea of appx how large lots are in that development? Here (in NY) we live on a nice corner lot that is large for our neighborhood, but it's only 50x125. We have a front porch on our cottage and spend lots of time on it, but honestly, we were hoping to move south to spread out a little bit - both in lot size and house size. It feels like we're busting at the seams here. We're definitely not looking for "Queens South" where I can stick my hand out the window and touch my neighbor's house. We aren't necessarily seeking out rural per se, but we're not against it either. Guess we're just like every other northerner on this board, looking for good value, good schools, nice neighbors and a step up.
We've agreed to work with a buyers agent who says she'll show us around when we make our first scouting trip in Feb., but haven't heard much more from her just yet. These boards are very helpful in trying to get a feel for things that might be a good fit - at least on paper, before we try to drag three little kids around with us. We're looking for min 4 bedrooms and a nice open feeling house, pr 350-425. I hear lots of good things about Waxhaw too. Any thoughts? P.S. I like to hit the mall (I am a native LI girl after all) and go to the movies as much as possible. Are Indian Trail and Waxhaw way out there? Thanks again for your help.

I just got deja vu when you started talking about Queens...
You should contact your buyers agent -- she should be able to set up an automatic search so you can receive daily listings and updates for properties that meet your criteria. It would be a help to you and to your agent -- you can sift through them ahead of time and get a sense of what's out there -- and let your agent know which ones work and which ones don't. In that price range you should have many options.

When we were looking we did look at Bonterra but found the houses much too close together although they were nice. A little farther down the road is Annandale which is still in Indian Trail (great schools, low taxes) but the plots are larger and there is more space between the houses. Still not huge plots. We ended up building in Monroe and were able to get a 1.5 acre plot.

The larger lots is what brought us to Monroe ... can't stand how close together most of the homes in newer subdivisons are built.
Congrats! When do you move into new home?

We are closing in May. We will be commuting for a while since my husband is not ready to retire yet. Where in Monroe are you?

Going 200S/Lancaster HWY, we are off of Corinth Church Road. Do you know the area? Very, very peaceful yet not too far from 74.
My husband works in Stallings. His morning commute is easier than the evening. And overall, it's not nearly as bad as it could be. We've endured far worse.
Where will you be located?
Sincerely,
SL
