Considering a move to the Charlotte, NC area this summer from South FL. I have been researching communities to the north of the city, like Huntersville and Concord. Any info on these and surrounding areas would be most appreciated!

This has been debated numerous times. The easiest thing to do to get the broad discussions would be to search the word Huntersville. I can almost guarantee numerous pages of info to read.

Now if your looking for something specific please let me know

Thanks for the quick response. We're in Palm Beach county FL and, like practically everyone else down here, are considering a move to either GA or the Carolinas, preferably NC. We're tired of the rat race that South FL has become over the last 10-15 years...crime is WAY up and the "ghetto" element is closing in from every direction. Cost of living has gone up as well. These "bedroom" communities outside Charlotte looked attractive, and from what I've gathered on other posts, the more desireable areas are to either the north or the south of the city. We're also looking for about an acre or so of land and ultimately want to be around 30 - 40 minutes from town.

Thoughts? Opinions?

Well as always the first question is how much are you looking to spend. This can determine a lot of where you will be able to buy.

An acre in that price on either side could be tricky. I do however know of a FSBO that has 2 acres 3bed 2 bath in Huntersville selling for $209k i believe. How soon you looking to move?

Hey Walrus, we too moved from S Florida, we bought one town north of Concord in Kannapolis, I would urge you too include Kannapolis in your research and also the towns of Landis and China Grove, area's 11 and 21 (Cabarras, and Rowan counties).

Good Luck

Ideally this summer, if we can get our place sold by then. I've noticed that acreage is a little hard to come by in these areas. Land IS important to us but not necessarily a deal breaker. Zero lots are the rule of the day in South FL so we're definitely looking to avoid the same situation. 1/2 to 3/4 acres would be fine.

Thanks aardvarks. Mind if I ask where you were in South FL?
