Well it's been a month and a half since my interview and the company never got back to me. Even after flying me out and having a nice interview, which I felt went very well. They ignore my emails and phone calls. It's not like it's a small company. It's one of the largest in Charlotte.

The big companies are the worst. All across the country there is little to no etiquette in recruiting anymore. I'm sorry for your negative experience

I got to experience Charlotte at their expense so all is not lost. Lovely city you all have there!

Can you go online and check the status of your application?
I work for a large organization in Charlotte. I was a contractor with them when I applied for a full time position in a different department. I applied in February or March, interviewed in May and wasn't offered the job until July, just to give you an idea. It may take awhile with some of the larger organizations.

The day I applied the status was "Submitted". When they set up my interview the status changed to "Completed" and has been in this status since.

I've left multiple VoiceMails and haven't received a call back. I figured I'd abandon ship for now (unless they call back of course). I've done my due diligence.

So I finally heard back after nearly 2 months and they said the position was canceled. Gee thanks for the timely update haha

With that being said, I've decided I'm going to keep trying to pursue employment in the area so we can hopefully relocate someday. We were in town on vacation last week and my wife and son loved it there. I will keep applying to the company from my original post since it's the same industry I'm in now but I'm opening up my search a bit and will apply for other companies in Charlotte.

It's funny how things work. My family and I relocated 2 years ago from Rochester, NY to Florida - just south of Sarasota. We were getting settled in with our 2 daughters (4 and 12 at the time) and staying with my family there until we found a permanent place of our own.

We took a trip to Charlotte about 3 months in meeting family from Rochester halfway and all of us instantly fell in love.

Whether the job worked out or not, perhaps it brought you here for a reason. We threw caution to the wind, picked up and moved for the second time in 6 months and have been here ever since.

Ironically, my job in Florida was with Bank of America which is headquartered here in CLT, but after announcing my move - that bridge was effectively charred. Happier than ever working in the mortgage loan business with a smaller, more personal company so regardless of how we got here - seems we were meant to do it.

Would love to hear an update, what industry you're looking at, and if I can help with some of my contacts here I'd be happy to. Just not Bank of America...obviously.

John
