Hello,

Does anyone know of a used furniture warehouse, store or deeply discounted furniture store in the Charlotte area? I am willing to travel a bit to visit it.

I have one for you. It is near the intersection of Sugar Creek and N Tryon. They are a hotel furniture liquidator. Sorry I do not know the name. It is located at the end of the Asian Mall in the old peebles dept store off Sugar Creek. The place is jam-packed full of stuff. I bought some really nice dining chairs there for $10 each. There is also LOTS of crap, the place is basically a warehouse and stuffed to the gills. You might be able to find a few pieces for a good price.

Consignment 1st. There are several in the Charlotte area. Google their name to find a location closest to you.

Does this mean you are moving to Charlotte? We were all praying for you in a different post, and would love to know how you made out.

Check into Value City Furniture on Ind. Blvd. I have seen people who got some "GREAT" deals there. Also, Cort furniture had a store at one time in Charlotte where they sold furnishings that had been used in corporate rental homes.

Try Habitat ReStore, which is affiliated with Habitat for Humanity. They have a pretty good selection furniture and household stuff, in addition to building supplies. They have locations on Wendover and Wilkinson.
Consignment 1st is also great, but definitely more expensive than Habitat. Good luck!

VALUE CITY!!!! The one on Independence is much better than the one on South Boulevard -- HUGE clearance section in the back. We went absolutely everywhere, and this place is the best for furniture that looks more like what you'd get at Rooms 2 Go -- only at 70, 80, 90% off, it seems! The Rooms 2 Go Outlet had all sorts of cheaply-made stuff, falling apart and still WAY more than Value City -- and a lot of the furniture at V.C. is real (ie. real wood, etc.)

Don't get me wrong; it's still bargain shopping -- it isn't Ethan Allen! -- but we got such good deals. And they have payment plans (ours was 6 months but I think they go up to 18 months maybe?) -- some even on the clearance stuff!! They mark down stuff they can't sell at random and don't advertise it -- for example, I found 2 d.r. chairs out on the floor that were $35 each even though the chairs with the set were about $120 each! (They just happened to have 2 extra, and we'd looked EVERYWHERE for dark cherry high back, covered chairs -- couldn't find anything for less than $65 each, even at Office Depot). We got a rolltop desk in clearance for $225 and a bookshelf (HUGE, takes up a whole wall; real cherry wood) for $75!! The guy selling it said the day before someone had bought it on clearance for $150 -- but for whatever reason, it had been marked down even further. The only catch is the clearance section is cash and carry -- so we broke it down right there in the showroom with our tool set and carried it out to the car in the back!!
