I've lived in Charlotte for 9 years and have been very happy here. Due to family and health issues I have to move back to Long Island. I would like your help in finding a reputable long distance moving van company that has integrity and is affordable. I would appreciate any input you can give me. Thank you so much.

We used North American Van Lines in our move from Houston to Charlotte. It cost us less than 2k but we were only moving a 2 bedroom, and nothing really of value like fine art or breakables. They also packed everything for us.
They were very professional. They arrived for delivery when they said they would. I think it took about a week for delivery. The mover reviewed the inventory list with me when they picked up and on delivery. I would use them again.

By far America's best mover is Gentle Giant out of Boston but they have a Charlotte office. Look up their reputation on line. They are very highly rated by clients. They moved us from Boston last year and the crews are just phenomenal. By contrast, we used United in the past and the loading crew was good but at the destination they hired guys from a labor pool that never did this kind of work. Things were broken, walls were scraped. It was a mess. Maybe we just had a bad experience but I know that Gentile Giant would have never done that.

To get a good "non biased" opinion, I would check with Yelp or other sources for rating such operations. That way you can get reviews of many users and get a better overall picture. And, you will likely be able to compare prices. You might also want to check the BBB of Charlotte/Mecklenburg.
