Coming up from Miami, I'm wondering if it would be safer for me to get one when my lease is up for the winter months and in general? I think I've heard that CLT doesn't get much snow right? (which I've never seen so hoping for some next winter) How many of you have AWD vehicles?? And what do you think? Thanks

I definitely do not think it's necessary. I didn't have a 4wd vehicle when I lived in Michigan where they get lots of snow, and I definitely do not need one here. Maybe if you were in the mountains it would make sense, but not in the Charlotte area. Unless the once a year 1 inch scares you that much. However, it is melted off of the roads by 10 AM.

I would rather have it for the one time I need it. Plus its nice if you like to go up to the mountains on the weekends.

That's what I was thinking of having it for. Quick getaways in the mountains..Plus you can't beat it in the rain

Well it doesn't rain here anymore either so you really don't need it.

True! Eventually we'll have no weather at all.

Overkill....I'll take good quality tires, regular maintenance, and good driving habits. And, ABS and traction control is practically standard on cars now.

A front wheel drive or one with traction control would suit your needs...
