My neighborhood is great for those w/children. We have one of the best pools in the Matthews area, and some homes in your price range. Lots of planned activities all year to get out & meet others. The neighborhood is Weddington Ridge in Matthews. Top-rated schools & low crime !

HOA dues are $225 paid two times a year. It covers maintenance of common area, landscaping of common area, pool (includes 1 baby pool, 1 splash pool, and jr olympic sized pool--it is big so we have to hire guards), social events, and homeowner's management company. The dues have been paid already for this year so if you bought now, you wouldn't have to pay anything until next year (2009).

Actually HOA dues are one of the items that are prorated at closing (as are property taxes). So even though the buyer may not get a bill until 2009, unless the seller is willing to pay the dues through the year (and it is written into the contract) the dollar amount will be prorated at closing.

I would 2nd Weddington Ridge...we have friends who live there and they let us be their guests at their pool all summer . Our neighborhood is great, but no pool. You can get a lot of home for little $$ in an excellent location. There are homes in connecting neighborhoods that are in the 400-500's.
