I would be over-joyed if someone could post some basic information about traffic times for South-Bound traffic on I-77. It'd be really nice if someone could say, "I travel Mon-Fri from Exit 28 down to Exit 9, I am at Exit 9 before 8:15 AM, and I don't hit any traffic expect for a slight slow-down around I-277, which only sets me back by maybe a minute or two."

Specifically, I am looking for information about the 14 mile drive (on I-77 South) from Exit 18 to Exit 4. I live at Exit 18 and I have to be at Exit 4 by 8:00 AM. I understand that traffic conditions vary, and that someone else's times may be different than mine, but I was just wondering if anyone else drove a similar route, and could share some information about times between 18 and 4.

Thanks!

I drive through that area quite frequently between 7:30 and 8 am.
To go from exit 18 to exit 4 usually takes about 35 minutes.
I would allow 45. Not good being late for work.

From 18 to 10 at 8:00 M-F - is only 10 to 15 minutes on 77 and thats mostly around 13-10. Usually from 10-4 Southbound I haven't seen it so bad, so maybe 10 minutes. Not that you should plan well and of course every day coudl vary especially with accidents, etc, but 35-45 seems a bit much from 18-4 just on 77. Now 18-28 could be 30 minutes in of itself. I avoid 25-18 by taking a back road to 18, that saves me 15 minutes. Going home is 5-15 minutes longer.

From Exit 18, wouldn't it make more sense to take I-485 from Mt. Holly-Huntersville Rd., even if it's probably a little longer mileage-wise?

Isn't it open at Mt. Holly? I see them building it but no entrence ramp, did I miss it? I think thats the goal of 485 to avoid the 77 downtown traffic, so hopefully that would work.
