Default Hvac jobs

Hi! My son is in the steamfitters union. He works for Carrier. He works on commercial jobs not residential. I know Trane is in NC too.

Plumbers & Pipefitters' Local Union 421
2556 Oscar Johnson Dr.

Carrier, Siemens, JCI, York are under a Service National Mechanical Contract.

Carrier: Might be interested in hiring a Journeyman Centrifugal Technician for the Charlotte area or a helper for the Gastonia area.

Siemens Techs: I rarely see their techs. They may travel alot. They seem to be happy.

Johnson Controls: Offered their guys more vacation and pay to drop out of the union years ago. At the last negotiations they refused to agree to anything even if their guys already got what we were asking for. They got up and walked out.

York: was bought by Johnson Controls and firing the York Techs that are in the union for whatever reason they can find.

McKennys: Is under a pipefitter contract which pays less. However they are known to pay their service guys above and beyond our service contract. They treat their guys very well and give a nice bonus at the end of the year as a partnership as the company does well. I get tempted to go to them as the grass looks greener.

Padget: Looks/Looked good also. This area is the 2nd largest banking center on the east coast and the owner was tight with the banks. The owner just sold the company. We haven't heard yet if they are going to stay union.

The above is not intended to slander or offend anyone just opinions of the way I see things after working in the Charlotte area for the past ten years.
