Since moving here, I've had to employ all the above listed tactics, and then some. It goes without saying that food is much more expensive here than PA. I miss my Wegmans! But I have to say that Trader Joe's has helped immensely. Many things are cheaper there than both HT and Walmart, and most of it is organic/natural. Of course, I can't get everything I need there, but most of my produce, dairy, juice, etc. I know it's not convenient for everyone, but I pass it several days a week.

Default food costs everywhere have went up

Hi,

I'm not in NC, I'm in FL, but I think that the price of food has gone up everywhere. We've been looking at relocating from FL and have researched many areas. One thing you can do to check out the food prices is find out the names of the local grocery stores and find their websites, then look for their local weekly ad. I compare that with the weekly ad at my local store and get a pretty good idea of the prices, especially when you consider what's in season now, etc.
