Does anyone know who the proposed builders for the new River District will be and if/when they plan to start pre-selling?

They are not that far along. They are still in the approval phase of their site plan, etc.... The proposed builders will come later. This is a community that is planned to take 20 years to reach full build out. Most of the info available is here (there isn't much):

I still have a hard time believing that people will want to live that close to the airport.

Yeah I'd tend to agree as there have been complaints a few times from people that live around the area when flight patterns change. Also, not just Charlotte but I think typically around airports you can get some spotty areas, crime, etc...Though that happens anytime there is a lot of people traffic.

Due to the layout of the runways, the neighborhood should actually be relatively quiet because it is to the side of the runways, rather that in the arrival and departure paths to the runways. Belmont, Fort Mill, Lake Norman, Steele Creek, South CLT, etc... are all in potential arrival/departure paths to the runways.

That's obviously what they are hoping, but IMO the reason there hasn't been much interest around it in the past are the 700+ take offs and landings on those 4 runways every single day.

It will be much quieter than Steele Creek, which is one of the fastest growing areas in the city, and Belmont. It actually isn't under any arrival or departure paths.

You guys seem to not have any appreciation for the size and quality planned. This is going to be another Ballantyne. I have no idea why people would want to live in what was the middle of a field (fill in the blank with any Charlotte suburb), but as history has shown if you build it people will come.
